PUPPETRY

Kahonua, the giant sea turtle, commissioned by the Skirball Cultural Center, 2018

Leslie had helped create the Skirball Museum's enormously popularannual Puppetry Festival and had performed each year since it's start in 2012.  For 2018, the Skirball requested a pageant puppet to highlight environmental awareness, and Leslie designed and built this twelve foot giant sea turtle with flapping fins and the global seven seas on its shell.  Named "Kahonua", which in Hawaiian means "the world", this newest giant puppet thrilled the throngs at the Skirball Museum to celebrate Earth Day.

Professor Draconis from "DRAGONS 101", commissioned by Descanso Gardens, 2020

The last performance Leslie and her team did was in February of 2020 to a standing room only crowd at Descanso Gardens for their annual "Night Garden" event.  Following their theme of "constellations", Leslie wrote and designed an original family theatre piece with told several culture's constellation stories and featured a ten foot long dragon professor with stars across her back.  A thrilling evening of fun for all ages...right before lockdown.
